The City of Satellite Beach will be hosting a volunteer planting day on September 1 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the stormwater pond just to the north of the City’s Public Library. The event will involve planting native plants along the shoreline of the pond, which will help to increase its nutrient retention capabilities as well as create additional habitat for local wildlife.
The City is teaming up with several local nonprofits and organizations to make this event a reality, including Balance for Earth, the Marine Resources Council, and Keep Brevard Beautiful to name a few.
Snacks, water, and some planting tools will be provided but if you have tools of your own (gloves, shovels, spades, etc.) please bring them. Participants are also advised to bring their own reusable water bottle, wear sunscreen, and bring a hat. Please park in the library’s parking lot when one arrives and then walk north to the pond where there will be a check-in tent.
If you have any questions or comments please direct them to the City’s Environmental Programs Coordinator, Nicholas Sanzone either by phone (321-773-4409 ext. 227) or email (nsanzone@satellitebeach.org).
Thank you and hope to see everyone there!
