South Action Team Presents We Noticed Award to Purely Organic Salon for Hair
Keep Brevard Beautiful’s (KBB) South Action Team presented the “We Noticed” Beautification Award to the newly landscaped Purely Organic Salon for Hair in Satellite Beach on July 11. This unique full-service salon transformed the business inside and out utilizing technology to clean everything from the air to the water while integrating organic and vegan products into their services. Owner Cathy Hammond strived for a sustainable, organic business to provide amenities to the community and helped design the facility and landscaping. With a seven stage water filtration system, every drop used in their sinks, massages, water fountains and pedicures is exceptionally clean while using water-conserving devices and their multi-faceted air filtration system has independent circulation systems for a more pure experience. Landscaping around the facility includes mulch and Florida-friendly plants and natives from Native Butterfly Gardens to avoid fertilizers and watering. To further the business’ sustainable mission, they instituted a recycling program with Green Circles Salon for foil and hair dye. Purely Organic Salon also installed energy efficient doors and windows and plans on introducing solar energy soon.
Attending the “We Noticed” presentation were Cathy Hammond, owner and stylist; Bryan Bobbitt, KBB Deputy Executive Director; KBB staff; South Action Team members; City of Satellite Beach representatives; and Purely Organic Salon employees and studio owners.
The South Action Team recognizes property- and business-owners throughout the southern part of Brevard County year-round for their efforts to beautify the area and environmentally improve their landscaping. The program has been in operation since the 1990’s and has recognized dozens of properties throughout the County.
