Are you a contractor interested in becoming Lagoon Friendly Lawns certified? Our next training course for contractors is coming up on January 1oth from 6-7pm at the Satellite Beach Civic Center. If you have already submitted an application that has been approved by our review board, you will receive your certification at the end of this event! If you have not yet submitted your application, you can still attend the course to fulfill your training requirement. This will mean that once you submit your application, you’ll be immediately eligible for certification following approval of your application by the review board, instead of having to wait to attend our next scheduled training class.
During the training, we’ll give you a brief overview of the Lagoon Friendly Lawns contractor certification process and the benefits of your certification to both the Indian River Lagoon and your company. Next, Sally Scalera from the Brevard County UF/IFAS Extension office will dive into the basis for some of our required nutrient pollution reduction practices and discuss alternative approaches to turf care, including cultivating organic matter, promoting healthy microbe communities, and practicing a balanced soil approach to additives.
TO RSVP, please e-mail Lagoon Friendly Lawns program coordinator Allison Arteaga.
