About the Program
The Green Hosting Program recognizes Brevard County’s hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, and other lodging partners that commit to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. By joining, your business will not only help protect Brevard’s natural beauty but also appeal to eco-conscious travelers.

Program Criteria
- Waste Reduction & Recycling – provide recycling bins, reduce single-use plastics.
- Energy Efficiency – LED lighting, smart thermostats, efficient appliances.
- Water Conservation – towel/linen reuse programs, low-flow fixtures.
- Beautification & Landscaping – litter-free grounds, native plants, pollinator-friendly gardens.
- Community Engagement – support KBB cleanups and environmental initiatives.
(Businesses must meet a minimum number of criteria across categories to qualify.)
Host Tips
- Provide clearly labeled recycling & trash bins
- Offer eco-friendly cleaning supplies (non-toxic, biodegradable)
- Use refillable toiletry dispensers (soap, shampoo, lotion)
- Stock reusable items (cups, shopping bags, water pitchers)
- Feature native plants or KBB-certified gardens
- Share local recycling/compost guidelines in the welcome book
- Encourage alternative transportation (bike racks, walking maps, bus info)
- Highlight eco-friendly restaurants & shops
- Invite guests to join a local cleanup event
Guest Tips
- Recycle properly (check host instructions)
- Reuse towels and linens to save water
- Take shorter showers, turn off tap while brushing teeth
- Bring or use refillable water bottles
- Respect wildlife — don’t feed birds, turtles, or other animals
- Dispose of cigarette butts properly (never on ground/beach)
- Keep lights, fans, and A/C off when leaving
- Support local eco-friendly businesses & farmers’ markets
- Join a cleanup if one happens during your stay
How Do I Get Started?
- Complete the following Green Hosting application form and submit the $50 annual program fee (collected after form submission and review).
- Consultation – KBB staff conduct a walkthrough or review.
- Implement – Adopt sustainable practices where needed.
- Recognition – Earn certification and display your Keep Brevard Beautiful decal.
- Renewal – Annual check-in to maintain certification.
