August 28, 2026 – Keep Brevard Beautiful’s (KBB) South Action Team, which includes the City of Melbourne’s ECO Division staff and other concerned citizens, presented its “We Noticed” Beautification Award to Melbourne Kitchen, located at 55 E. NASA Blvd., on August 12.

Formerly Eddie’s Sunrise Diner, Melbourne Kitchen, is the first restaurant owned by Tara and Chris Weaver. Chris began his career in New York restaurants 40 years ago, working his way from dishwasher to cook before pursuing other business ventures. However, owning a full-service restaurant remained a lifelong dream. After moving from New Jersey to Florida, the Weavers purchased the rundown building in Melbourne and spent two and a half years transforming it into what is now Melbourne Kitchen.

The 3,800-square-foot restaurant features seating for 150 guests, including outdoor seating for 30, where dogs are welcome, and includes a full bar. The owners envision Melbourne Kitchen as more than just a place to eat; it’s designed as a gathering spot for neighbors, families, and friends.

The restaurant’s landscaping is what caught the attention of the KBB South Action Team. Following the recent freeze, Chris got to work replacing damaged plants and adding new landscaping, including several native and tropical plants. A Komodo dragon statue adds a unique touch to the garden area in front of the restaurant.

Chris Weaver takes great pride in this restaurant and is dedicated to maintaining a clean atmosphere while serving high quality, delicious meals. “Image is in everything we do,” Weaver said. “I love this town and am thankful for the people. What’s not beautiful today can be beautiful tomorrow.”

Throughout the year, the South Action Team recognizes property and business owners from the southern part of Brevard County for their efforts to beautify the area and environmentally improve their landscaping. The program has been in operation since the 1990’s and has recognized dozens of properties throughout the County.

Keep Brevard Beautiful’s mission is to develop, motivate, educate and activate community partners to reduce litter, recycle, beautify, and sustain the environment for the benefit of Brevard County residents and visitors. In addition to organizing group cleanup events, KBB assists companies, clubs and individuals with conducting private litter removal activities and offers a variety of programs and education services.
