We Noticed Award Presented to Coral Reef Academy
Keep Brevard Beautiful (KBB), an organization dedicated to the cleanup and preservation of Brevard County’s natural resources, gave Coral Reef Academy its “We Noticed” award on Aug. 9.
The day care, preschool and after-school center at 1755 W. NASA Blvd., Melbourne, was awarded for its efforts in landscaping with a Florida-friendly mindset and for its bright, beautiful establishment. The academy’s original location is at 4945 Stack Blvd. in Melbourne.
“My understanding is that it is a nominations process, and that there was an individual either on [KBB’s] board, or in their group…Apparently there was a gentleman that had driven by our building multiple times, and nominated us for the award, ” Ms. Webb said.
“We were kind of just minding our own business one day, it’s kind of the best way to win,” Ms. Webb added.
“Our building is kind of a beacon of color in a very not-so-colorful stretch,” Ms. Webb said. “[In NASA Boulevard,] there’s a lot of aerospace buildings and companies right through there, and so whenever we have families coming, to try and locate us we say, ‘keep driving— it’s the big colorful building. You can’t miss it!’”
According to a recent press release from KBB, “Coral Reef Academy was recognized for its unique play area and outdoor landscaping that includes shrubs with multicolored berries, magnolia trees and Florida-friendly plants. The facility was designed to grab the attention of those driving past with bright colors and playful geometric shapes.”
